If you say nothing to your dentist or the staff nothing will change.

The number one reason why poor service continues is that people just leave mad without saying a word. Here is a perfect example of poor chair side manner that would have continued if nothing was said.
I was at my orthdontist a few years ago in the very beginning stages of having my braces adjusted and installed. A dental assistant was working on my mouth and she pulled my mouth open as if I were a dead animal and she was dragging me around. Not sure how else to describe the treatment but the point I want to make is that it hurt like hell. After the third time she pulled my mouth I jumped out of the dental chair and said “If you do that again I am going to do the same thing to you and see if you like it…… I said “Please get me a different assistant. I do not want you working in my mouth.” I used some other choice words and soon the orthodontist came in and apologized and he brought in a new assistant. My next visit is where the lesson begins. The orthodontist said that I had insulted his assistant and would appreciate it if I would give her an apology. I said “WHAT!” “I am paying you $7,000 and your assistant caused me unnecessary pain and you want me to apologize.” He said “She has been an assistant for over 15 years” and I said “Well she needs to find a new career”
I am 35 years old. The rest of the patients in this office are in their teens. I said “Most of your patients are probably afraid to complain”
I guarantee this woman treats her patients with more care but if I would have said nothing she would have just provided the same treatment over and over again. This same rule should be applied to dental assistants, dentists, and the front office staff. You are paying these people to usually cause you pain. So do not be afraid to speak up and express your dissatisfaction if you are treated like a customer that walks into a day spa.
